There is definitely something magical in chocolate. From its rich velvety texture to deep, comforting flavour, it's a soothing treat for the soul. And so, will you believe when we tell you that chocolate does far more than just indulge your cravings?

We can formulate nourishing, scrumptious treats by blending in the principle of Ayurveda with the rich decadence of chocolate.

Vata-balancing chocolate delights

Vata types need warmth and grounding to counter their naturally cool and airy nature. Think creamy, rich, and slightly sweet chocolate treats that provide comfort and stability:

Warm chocolate smoothie

Take unsweetened cocoa powder, milk warmed slightly,  honey, cinnamon, and cardamom. Creamy, warm, and perfect for bringing down Vata's restless energy. Add a teaspoon of Godrej Jersey ghee. It’s a deeply nourishing and grounding food in Ayurveda.

Spice boost: You can use a pinch of nutmeg and ginger for added warmth and grounding.

Dark chocolate bark with nuts and seeds

Melt dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa content, add crushed almonds and pumpkin seeds, sprinkle with sea salt. Nuts and seeds are grounding energy for Vata, and dark chocolate satisfies the love of rich flavours.

Texture twist: Add a drizzle of melted coconut oil to the cooled bark for an extra layer of richness and creaminess.

Pitta-pacifying chocolate creations

Pitta types need cooling and soothing foods to balance their fiery nature. Choose lightly sweetened, reviving chocolate bites that won't heat up the system.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream

Combine frozen bananas, unsweetened cocoa powder, fresh mint leaves, and a splash of coconut milk. This is an ice cream without dairy, cool, refreshing, and gentle on Pitta's sensitive digestion.

Cooling boost: Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a few crushed ice chips before serving.

Rose flavoured chocolate tea

Steep a cup of decaf cocoa tea or hot cocoa and add some rose water to it. Cooling and soothing is the nature of rose, therefore perfectly suitable for Pitta.

Soothing touch: Add dried rose petals powder to the tea for an extra aromatic and calming experience.

Kapha-activating dark chocolate treats

Kapha types need some light and stimulating, rather bitter food due to their too heavy and sedate nature. Well, think darker, bolder, and energetic chocolate recipes for example.

Spiced hot chocolate

Mix unsweetened cocoa powder with hot water, a pinch of black pepper, ginger, and honey. The spices kick-start digestion and warmth, but the dark chocolate still hits the right note without overdoing the sweetness.

Stimulating lift: Sprinkle chilli powder on top for that spicy, energising finishing touch.

Dark chocolate orange bark

Melt dark chocolate and mix in orange zest and a sprinkle of chilli flakes with it. This has citrus and spices, which perk up Kapha, as well as provide crunch from dark chocolate.

Citrus boost: Add a few drops of orange juice to the melted chocolate for an extra burst of citrusy flavour.
