The season of sweltering heat and dry discomfort is almost over. Soon the skies will be clouded and the trees glistening with the cool wet of rain. But before the monsoon season sets in and the heat dissipates, you can continue to capture the sweet tastes of summer with a simple recipe: Mango sorbet.

The markets are still flooded with mangoes – Alfonso, Banganapalli Neelam Himsagar and other varieties. Each has its own special taste and is relished in different ways. Here is a delicious recipe that holds on to the sweetness of the summer fruit even as it provides a respite from the lingering heat. Enjoy each cold bite as it slides sweetly into your tummy…

Ripe Mango – 2
Sugar Syrup – 5ml
Lime Juice – 2ml

  • Wash and peel the mangoes. Chop into cubes.
  • Make a smooth puree of the mango cubes.
  • Add sugar syrup and lime juice and mix well.
  • Freeze for about 3-5 hours.
  • Scoop and serve in chilled bowls.

Add a few pieces of fresh mango for that extra something.
