The third successful edition was marked with élan, grandeur, an array of intellectually stimulating discussions on current and evolving trends in the food and beverages industry followed by the annual showcase event held to recognise and encourage the thriving food blogging segment in India. The event was graced by Chef Vicky Ratnani, Chef Ashish Bhasin, Chef Ranveer Brar, Rashmi Uday Singh, Kunal Vijaykar, Home chef Geetika Saikia, television personalities Rocky Singh and Mayur Sharma, corporate food consultant Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal, PR expert Nikhila Palat, chocolatier Varun Inamdar, restaurateurs and industry experts.
Vikhroli Cucina partnered with Food Bloggers Association of India (FBAI) to celebrate the love for all things edible and the best of the culinary world.
Dialogues that mattered
It was a day-long event that included panel discussions and a series of master perspectives covering the current, relevant and compelling trends in the culinary and food blogging space by eminent chefs and stalwarts in the industry.
The discussion on The Journey towards Becoming an Informed and Ethical Food Blogger, was chaired by Bhisham Mansukhani and it highlighted the necessity to maintain a certain level of transparency in terms of paid-reviews while stressing on the need for conscientious critiquing backed with research. Antoine Lewis chaired the panel discussion on Rise of the Weekend Chef. Mohit Khattar, Ashwin Shah and Geetika Saikia highlighted how working professionals prefer to keep their eating habits transactional on weekdays but on weekends, they look forward to unwinding and rejuvenate themselves through cooking. They don an apron and a chef’s cap over the weekend to learn, understand, experiment and spend time freely and cooking turns into a social activity with the kitchen at the heart of it all. Baking Trends 2017 chaired by Pooja Khanna threw light on how responsible baking is fast catching up and so is ‘vegetarian’ baking.
The Master Perspectives included talks by restaurateur and Chef Rahul Akerkar ,Chef Ajay Chopra, Chef Varun Inamdar, Saransh Goila, Nitin Tandon, Chef Ranveer Brar, Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal, Kunal Vijayakar, Chef Vicky Ratnani, Nikhila Palat , Master of WInes Sonal Holland and Sweta Mohanty of Aspri spirits.
A star spangled night
Of course, this was just a precursor to the happening night on December 10, 2016, celebrating food and all things food, at IFBA awards, the annual showcase event held to recognise and encourage the thriving food blogging segment in India. The jury members included Rashmi Uday Singh, Chef Vicky Ratnani, television personalities Rocky Singh and Mayur Sharma, Chef Ranveer Brar, Chef Gaggan Anand, Antoine Lewis, Kunal Vijaykar, and Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal. The categories recognised every possible sphere of the food blogging space, for instance, General Food Blog, Lifestyle Blog, Vlog, Food Photo Blog, Vegetarian Blog, Recipe Blog, Regional Blog, Restaurant Reviews, Beverage Blog, Culinary Travel, Microblog, Debut Blog, Wine Blog, and Baking Blog.
Amidst all the glitz and glamour, Godrej Appliances announced their Flaunt to Feed initiative with the aim to help feed underprivileged kids in association with Annamrita (ISKON food relief foundation). They launched a digital campaign inviting food influencers to support the cause and tag @GodrejMicrowaveOvens in all their #instafood photo. For every tag received, they will feed a kid.
To add to all the goodness around, Godrej Tyson unveiled its first ever ‘Real Good Chicken Twitter Cook Book’, putting together the best recipes shared by chicken lovers. To bring alive the experience of the brands Real Good Chicken and Yummiez, food lovers were challenged to create exciting chicken recipes in just 140 characters using one of Real Good Chicken cuts & upload them on twitter using the #RealGoodCookBook & tag the brand handle @IamSUPERCHICKEN. Within a span of just 48 hours, enthusiastic chicken devourers poured in their secret recipe The best recipes got a direct entry into #RealGoodChicken Twitter Cook Book which was unveiled by the boisterous foodie duo, Rocky and Mayur.
Godrej Protekt a leading hand wash brand from the GCPL portfolio awarded the outstanding master blogger of the year to Kalyan Karmakar and Nikhil Merchant. Protekt Masterchef hand wash is designed to fight tough kitchen odours and immediately transforms greasy, smelly hands into fresh and fragrant ones.
No prizes for guessing that the event was a blast with #VikhroliCucinaS3 and #IFBA2016 trending on twitter all through the night. All in all, it has left one-and-all wondering about the magnitude of the next season.
The genesis of Vikhroli Cucina was the result of the Godrej vision to bring all its brands operating in the food category together. The aim was to create an ecosystem where chefs, bloggers, influencers, food lovers and others can collaborate to engage, exchange new ideas, gain insights and make new connections with each other.
